The National Action Party (PAN) and the
Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) demanded the federal government to clarify
the legal situation of the former Minister of Interior of Michoacan, Jesus
Reyna Garcia, who was arrested on Friday for his presumed links with organized
crime. The parties also demanded to investigate all of Michoacan administration,
including governor Fausto Vallejo Figueroa.
The ruling Institutional
Revolutionary Party (PRI) said is too soon to reach conclusions and asked the
parties to wait for the results of the investigations made by the Office of the
Mexican Attorney General (PGR). PRI added that Reyna's situation is complicated.
Reyna was arrested on Friday in
Michoacan after it was discovered that in 2011 he met with leaders of Knights Templar
criminal organization such as Servant Gomez Martinez (La Tuta) and Nazario
Moreno (El Chayo).
Jesus Zambrano Greave, national
leader of the PRD, demanded that governor Vallejo is also investigated.
"Reyna was in charge of
Michoacan government while Vallejo underwent surgery, and everybody in
Michoacan knew the links of these men with organized crime," said
Zambrano.
Cecilia Romero, PAN's national
chairwoman, demanded that the federal government and the government of
Michoacan investigate other officers of Vallejo's administration that have been
linked to organized crime.
Omar Fayed, PRI senator said that a new
exit writ was issued against Reyna for 40 days while he is investigated.
