Mexico has the largest of number of readers of Wikipedia in Spanish, said the director of Wikimedia Mexico, Iván Martínez.
In an event at Soumaya Museum, the representative of Wikipedia said that 45 million articles of the online encyclopedia are read every month in Mexico and that Mexico ranks tenth in the world by number of viewers.
Martínez explained that out of the 1.1 million articles in Spanish, the Mayan culture is the 11th most read.
The online encyclopedia contains 37 million articles edited by 100,000 volunteers in over 285 languages.
