President Enrique Peña Nieto received the President of France, François Hollande, who arrived today in Mexico.
"This visit marks the reunion between France and Mexico. Our renewed relationship has become closer and stronger for the benefit of our societies, said President Peña Nieto at the welcoming ceremony..
"We openly dialogue to strengthen the ties between our nations. We work together to address the challenges," Peña Nieto stated.
During his opening speech, the Mexican President recalled the visit of Charles De Gaulle to the country.
President Hollande's state visit, said Peña Nieto, is symbolic because it is part of the 50th anniversary of the visit of General Charles de Gaulle to Mexico.
"General Charles de Gaulle was a man who left his mark on our nation and on the world," said President Peña Nieto. "Mexico and France have admired and supported each other for generations," he added.
