Héctor Reyes, producer of Tupornmex, says that every month around 50 candidates seek to join his cast, most of them men. 

"Women are the least, perhaps four or five a month, some are students and other housewives," says Reyes. 

Men are paid 800 pesos (62 dollars) and women, 2,500 pesos (193 dollars). 

"I ask women why they want to do it. If they tell me they will use the money to buy milk for their children, I do not accept them." 

This afternoon, Raquel will not change diapers or iron her husband's shirts. Instead, the 23-year-old housewife will participate in her first casting as an amateur porn actress. She does not do it for money, but for pleasure. 

An apartment in Portales neighborhood in Mexico City serves as the impromptu set. Raquel seems nervous even though her husband is sitting next to her. They have been married for four years and both are swingers. He will not act, he will just record his wife's audition with his mobile.

After choosing a pink mask to cover her face, Raquel started kissing Axel, a young musician who also wants to become a porn actor. Both were accepted after having sex for 30 minutes. 

A bit of history 

Last century, national porn films were almost nonexistent, says Jorge Grajales, specialist in the history of pornography in Mexico. The industry (if it can be considered so) was born a decade ago and includes a dozen independent production houses, out of which 70% are for gay audiences. 

The researcher said that the first XXX films in Mexico were recorded during the Porfirian era: "In 1905 Arturo Arturraza got a camera and started filming couples who went to a guest house in Puebla and had sex. The films were shown at Venice movie theater, located behind the Fine Arts Palace" in Mexico City. 

The film archives of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) have around 30 porn short movies from the 20's and 40's. One of them is "El sueño de Fray Vergaza", about the erotic dreams of a homosexual friar. These films were "very subversive and challenged tradition," Grajales explained. 

In the late 80's, Arturo Robles Vázquez recorded "Las profesoras del amor" (The teachers of love), that was presented in 1993, and then "Traficantes del sexo" (Sex Traffickers). 

Even though "film censorship laws did not ban these movies, no one dared to make them," Grajales added. 

In his opinion, the national porn industry was born in 2004 with the film "La putiza" by Gerardo Delgado, that features masked wrestlers and won Barcelona's HeatGay award. The second part was called: "La Verganza". 

Grajales considers that with the widespread use of internet, light cameras and mobiles have propelled amateur porn. 

Gay and amateur porn

Geraldo Delgado is the master chef of an exclusive restaurant located at Condesa neighborhood in Mexico City. He is specialized in French cuisine of the Second Empire and Spanish dishes. 

Delgado is wearing an elegant black suit with pre-Hispanic motifs designed by the prestigious firm Pineda Covalin. 

The author of 11 cookbooks is the first gay pornographer of Mexico, creator of several movies and co-founder of a gay film producing house. 

The entrepreneur known as "El Diablo" (The Devil) says that many men between 18 and 22 are very interested in participating in amateur porn movies. Some of them are students of the Escuela Libre de Derecho, the Iberoamerican University and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), while others are artists, painters and even an opera singer who performed at Carnegie Hall. 

"Most of them do not do it for money," says El Diablo. 

Actors are paid around 6,000 pesos (464 dollars) per movie. 

In Mexico several websites offer amateur porn movies uploaded by regular people. One of them is odiosas.com.mx, which considers that amateur porn is popular because it shows real bodies. 

"A person or a couple wants the same thing: to be seen, admired and commented," said a representative from the website in an e-mail. "A man wants to be praised and recognized as the best in bed, while a woman wants to feel desired by others." 

In 2013 the website had 3 million visits, and 20% to 40% of these visitors were women. "Gradually women have joined amateur porn with photos, recording their own videos or even letting their husbands film them with someone else. These videos are quite popular," he added.
