Alsea, a Mexican operator of franchises, filed documents at the Federal Commission on Economic Competition (Cofece) along with Walmart de Mexico to buy Vips restaurant chain.

The Cofece had previously established certain conditions to approve the transaction, such as dropping exclusivity contracts in shopping malls. The companies expect to get the Commission's authorization after proving they have met the conditions imposed by the regulator.
