33 officials are penalized for failures in Line 12

The General Comptroller of Mexico City presented the first results of the audits to the Line 12 of the metropolitan subway system, whose service was suspended six months ago due to various failures.
At a press conference, Hiram Almeida said that 33 current and former public officials were penalized for various administrative irregularities in the design, construction and contracts awarded for the Golden Line and that 21 of them were suspended.
He added that 10 investigations are ongoing, which could lead to new sanctions, and that a criminal complaint was filed against Enrique Horcasitas Manjarrez, former director of the Metro Project. Horcasitas said he would contest the decision in court.

1. Enrique Horcasitas Manjarrez, former director of the project
Disqualified from public service for 20 years.
2. Juan Armando Rodríguez Lara, general director of administration
Disqualified from public service for 6 years. Fine: 2.94 million pesos (223,370 dollars).
3. Sotero Díaz Silva, design director of electro-mechanic facilities
Disqualified from public service for 14 years.
4. Kooichi Mario Endo Jiménez, director of works
Disqualified from public service for 15 years.
5. José Pascual Pérez Santoyo, director of contract administration
Disqualified from public service for 45 years. Fine: 116.3 million pesos (8.8 million dollars).
6. Juan Antonio Giral y Mazón, design director of civil works
Disqualified from public service for 20 years.
7. Carlos Raúl Cruz Neri, former director of construction and electro-mechanic facilities
