Canada appoints new ambassador to Mexico
According to a statement released by the Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, Pierre Alarie is Canada's new ambassador to Mexico.
"We are pleased to announce the appointment of Pierre Alarie as Canada's new ambassador to Mexico," said the ministers. "Mr. Alarie brings a wealth of business knowledge, as well as experience in both the private and public sectors, that will help strengthen the Canada-Mexico partnership even further, bringing it to a new level."
Alarie is a businessman who has worked for some major companies in the country, as the manufacturer Bombardier, the engineering firm SNC-Lavalin, the financial institution Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Quebec and Hydro-Quebec power company.
The new ambassador is replacing the diplomat Sara Hradecky, who was appointed as the representative of Canada in Mexico in October 2011.
